Is Group Medical Insurance Affordable Health Coverage?

by Tom Carolan

Everyone wants to save some money and find affordable health coverage. If you are choosing between group healthcare coverage and individual healthcare coverage, most people assume group healthcare will be the most affordable option. Many people are offered group health insurance either through their place of employment or through their spouse's employment. In fact, for some families, the type of medical insurance offered by a company is as important to consider as wages.
You can also find group health insurance through other outlets such as professional associations, student organizations and professional and civic groups. Some groups will provide group health insurance as an incentive for people to join.
Is it true that group health insurance is always the most affordable type of insurance? Surprisingly, no it isn't always the best answer. With group health insurance, everyone in the group is generally accepted into the plan with no penalty for pre-existing conditions. While this can be very beneficial for those who have a health condition which makes them high risk, it's important to know that cost is distributed among the other members of the group. Because of the guaranteed acceptance in a group policy, the premium rates may be quite high. Many times, however, employers will pay a portion of the medical insurance premium, therefore reducing the amount owed by the individual employees. Rather than blindly assuming a group health rate is more affordable health coverage than an individual policy, you need to examine carefully how much your portion of the premium is for both individual coverage and family medial insurance coverage.
Group medical insurance will also limit you to one or possibly two providers in many cases. If you choose an individual healthcare policy, you can often choose your provider from a much larger network of doctors, hospitals and clinics. You also have the choice of many different insurance companies when you purchase an individual policy, further expanding your provider options.
Your care options on a group health insurance plan may be more limited with a group plan as well. With individual health coverage, you can choose things like dental, vision, chiropractic care, etc, that you probably will not have any control over in a group plan.
Finally, group healthcare will often provide only one option for deductibles and copays. When you purchase individual healthcare, you make the decisions regarding deductibles and copays, which can lower your premium significantly.
Group health insurance does offer a significant benefit over many individual healthcare policies. By joining a group health insurance policy at your place of work, you will not need to pass a physical exam by a doctor to be accepted. Group health plans will also generally accept pre-existing conditions, which can be much more difficult with an individual policy. Group health insurance policies can vary widely from state to state, as well as from company to company. Never make a blind decision when choosing your healthcare policy. You must compare provider options, coverage options, deductible costs, co-pay amounts and premium costs in order to choose the best, most affordable health coverage for your needs.

Top 10 Questions To Answer When Looking For A Dentist

by Dr. Scott Shamblott

It is a good idea to have a dentist selected before you have an emergency. Toothaches and pain are usually at their worst in the middle of the night, so regular visits are important. Routine maintenance is always cheaper and more convenient than repairing large or painful problems. Your dentist will take x-rays to look for problems that you cannot see or feel.
Consider the following questions when looking for a dentist so you are sure to make the right choice:
1. When is the dental professional available? Is it convenient for your schedule? Does the office have early morning hours, evening hours, or weekend hours? You never know when a dental emergency will come up and having a dental office that is readily available will help when the time comes.
2. Does the dental professional use the latest technology and sterilization procedures to ensure the best results and patient care? There have been tremendous advances in dental care over the past years that can all but eliminate the discomfort of many procedures. Choosing a dental professional that makes use of the latest advances can help make your experience stress-free.
3. Does the cosmetic dentist provide excellent personalized care to patients? It is important that your dentist be in touch with your needs and cosmetic goals. Look for a dentist that provides comprehensive treatment plans tailored to your individual needs and goals.
4. Are initial examinations and x-rays provided at no cost so patients don't have to use their resources to find out what problems they may have? This allows resources to be used to fix problems instead of for discovering problems.
5. Is there a discount for payment in full by either cash or check? Many families do not have dental insurance. By paying cash in full you can very often save money. It can also be helpful for larger procedures if the dentist offers types of no interest financing plans available on approved credit.
6. Are there testimonials from current patients describing their experiences available? How current patients view the dental practice is an excellent indicator of how reliable, friendly and professional they will be with you and your family.
7. Does the dental professional have a strong commitment to continuing education? Technology is constantly changing in the dental field. It is important that your dentist makes an effort to constantly learn new techniques and tools.
8. Is the dental office trained to deal with medical emergencies, including basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)? Also, the dental office should be properly equipped to deal with medical emergencies by having an automated external defibulator (AED), up to date emergency kid and oxygen tanks.
9. Are there options for dealing with anxiety such as nitrous oxide laughing gas or IV sedation? Many people are uncomfortable with dental visits -- to the point where they may even avoid the dentist altogether. Knowing your dentist can handle your anxiety means you will continue regularly scheduled check-ups -- eliminating larger problems in the future.
10. Does the cosmetic dentist stand behind the work performed by providing a written warranty? A warranty will give you peace of mind and a guarantee should something go wrong with the procedure.
Finding the right dental professional for your family will go a long way towards your dental health. By keeping these 10 questions in mind, you are sure to choose the right dental professional for your specific needs.

What Is The Average Cost Of Braces?

by Frank Rodriguez

Everyone hates the thought of having to get braces. Not only may a child in your family fall prey to having to wear these devices of torture, but an adult may well need them too. Though braces are not as much as a pain to wear as they once were, they still will cost you a lot of money. That's why we have looked into the average cost of braces so you know if you are getting a good deal.
When looking at the modern metal type braces needed to straighten out teeth problems it was found that the basic average is around $5,413 and can go up around $7,625. However there are other choices you will need to make about these braces that can make that cost go up. There are brackets that go on those metal braces, and if you want them to be the color of your teeth, well it will cost you another $500. However that's not all the cost can go up another $2, 000 or $5, 000 if you don't want any metal showing on the front of your teeth.
Right it does sound a bit ridiculous but it's not. However you can also look into a newer product. This is perfect for people who hate having those metal pieces making their mouths look bad. It's called the Invisalign, and it's a tray that is plastic. Not the cheapest item in the book either they will start at $3, 000 or maybe even $5, 000. But there are things that can also make those prices go up. Many dental plans will not cover this for adults though.
Modern braces are not as painful and ugly as they use to be though. Thinking back most people will remember at least one comment they made as a kid to another kid who wore those "railroads" on their teeth. Thank goodness that times have changed and now a child will not stand out as much as they once did if braces are needed.
Of course with the choices of modern braces you can increase the cost and have no metal showing. Meaning that the metal will be inside your mouth. This may be helpful to a sensitive child who wants few people to know they wear braces.
As stated above you can go with the plastic tray option too. These are not noticeable on your teeth, but every two weeks you will need to go into the dentist so they can realign the tray. Perhaps a bit of a pain when you really think about it. Plus these will take longer than the metal braces to fix problems with your teeth.
Other things that will add cost to the average cost of braces are those gold plates. Not really a purchase that needs to be made, but for some reason they seem very popular. These can add up to $500 more on the cost of braces.
Perhaps the very first thing you should see when you find out that a person in your family may need braces is call to see what is covered. With the average cost of braces being pretty darn expensive it would be nice to find out just how much you will be paying out of pocket.

Dallas Dental Care - Dental Services Within Your Reach

by Forrest Stuart

Dental treatment can be costly even if you have dental insurance. Most insurance covers basic cleaning and fillings, as well as x-rays and extractions. However, unless you have the best coverage, you may be responsible for partial payment on procedures like root canals, teeth bleaching, gum surgery and cosmetic dentistry. If you don?t have insurance cost for dental care can be astronomical.Dental treatment usually involves relatively cheap diagnostic measures and if tooth rot or consequent diseases are diagnosed early, the treatment is less costly. So, education on Dallas TX dental care and early treatment are good methods to keep the price tag down. However, there are methods to lower the price of your dental care either through your place of work or through low-income, community dental health care programs. In a place of work, a worker is generally offered a few dental plan options. The plans range between basic care coverage to the best dental care coverage you can get. The employer may pay any part of a monthly premium to the dental insurance coverage. When the worker is seen by a dentist, depending on the cover, he could have to pay for has much as half or as little as nothing for the procedure. Some sorts of treatment won't be covered under this plan at all.For example, cosmetic dentistry is in generally not covered by any insurance, as it is not considered necessary dental care. In many low income community dental health plans, the sole coverage is for the least costly alternate treatment (LEAT) that is listed by the insurance corporation. As an example, if there's the choice of a root canal or extraction the insurance company will pay for the extraction because it is less expensive. In Dallas, there are many non-public dental hospitals and healthcare firms that offer lower cost dental service. Check the local telephone book or browse the web for a proffesional Dallas dentists available now.

The purposes of insurance for dental is to cover problems related to dental health care. These coverage should include from the most basic problems such as broken teeth due to accidents or cavity to the most complex problem such as root canal and tooth implant.
Some dental insurance plan are designed to be flexible so as to accomodate the dental care needs for different people. There are a few basic types of dental insurance plan that provide comprehensive coverage.
Dental insurance will take care the cost of dental visit for routine check up or exam. The coverage starts with basic treatment like cleaning and filling the teeth.
Because of this those with insurance for dental could get their dental care taken cared of on time so as to avoid future problems such as root canal, crown filling or bridgework. Therefore serious problems can be avoided in the future.

Finding the Best Westchester Dentists

by Phoenix Delray
It can be really stressful when you are trying to find Westchester dentists that will make your visit comfortable and positive. When it comes time for that six month checkup or you notice something in your mouth that you need professional help with, there often comes a cloud of fear surrounding one question: How can I go to the dentist when I HATE going? This is a common concern not many people enjoy going to see Westchester dentists, but there are some things you can do to make sure that your appointments go smoothly and with as little stress as possible.
Your dentist should be accredited by the American Academy of Dentistry. You will ensure that he or she has been trained in the highest degree and has the expertise and knowledge that is necessary to treat patients with the best care. You should schedule a time to visit the office just to meet the staff, see the facility, and get an opinion of the offices atmosphere. During this first visit, you need to find out how long he has been practicing and what procedures he has experience in. Also, for your own piece of mind, you can find out about any special credentials or education that your dentist can claim. Education is important, but experience is also just as much of an indication that your dentist knows what he is doing.
Many professionals today keep on hand in their office an album of before and after pictures of actual patients that have come to them in the past for help. If there is a certain cosmetic procedure that you have in mind and are thinking of undergoing, ask if he or she has experience with and has any pictures of that. Westchester dentists have experience in so many different procedures and they specialize in so many different things that you are sure to find one that you are comfortable with. The technology that is used these days on peoples teeth is state of the art, and is the latest equipment that has been developed so far.
Be sure that any Westchester dentists that you are considering accept whatever dental insurance that you have. If you are uninsured or you have insurance but they do not work with it, you may want to ask about other payment options, such as debit, credit, or many offices these days now even accept payment plans, sometimes with a certain amount up front. Westchester dentists can help you achieve good oral health and a smile that proves it.

The value of Dental treatments

by Dr. Jonathan Penchas

Like almost everything in life the value of teeth can be realized when there are none! This is a great saying, because if you talk with old people who have no teeth left or have few teeth left in their mouth, you will realize the problem that they face. The biggest problem is definitely concerns eating.
Regular dentures are not a very good option for most. The reason for this is that that you can only implant them when there are no teeth left. Even if you have few existing tooth you have to pull them up, painfully. Dentures are not at all a good option for people who lose their tooth during accidents. For this reason scientists have invented something called dental implants. These are special dentures that are attached to the jaw and they work as good as original ones.
If your teeth are weak you cannot eat well. When we say food it doe not mean solid food only. Most people find it difficult to eat anything! Talking too can be a major hurdle here. Another problem that they face is stomach infections because the stomach has do work much more than when the mouth would be working simultaneously. Many middle-aged people or even teenagers can lose their tooth during an accident or illness.
The best place to get your denture implants is at Nobel Bio Care. Contact them over the internet at their medical site http://www1.nobelbiocare.com/. Their USP is that they can fit you the denture implants within one day. This is not a major operation at all. The actual time required to fit the dentures depend upon the condition of the patient. There are only handfuls of dental experts that can successfully deal with these implants in Houston (Texas). Nobel Bio Care is an exception. They are considered the leaders in this specialized field. The doctors who are employed by them are the finest in America. They are professionally called Prosthodontists. Dr. Jonathan Penchas is one of them. In fact he is the leading name in this and the organization follows the expertise of this expert.
There are certain things that you must follow if you have attached these denture implants. They are very delicate articles. Never drop them! If you are not wearing or using them store them away from pets and children. This also applies for regular dentures. Brush your dentures everyday as you clean your natural teeth. They will remain unstained and healthy. Soft denture brushes are available easily. When you are buying such brushes check fro ADA logo. You can also clean it with regular dishwashing liquid or recommended denture cleaner.
Contrary to general perception these operations re not costly if you look at it as a long term investment and the bright smile. Of course it is a bit costlier than regular dentures because this is a highly individualized procedure. Every patient requires different denture configuration. It also consists of some precious materials and metals. There are financial plans that are available at http://www1.nobelbiocare.com/ for your help.

Cheap Dental Insurance

by Herb Daly Jr

Whether or not you are an individual or a family participant the cost of dental work can be quite staggering. Now some employers do offer a package as a benefit to some employees but not all. So a lot of people are still out there hanging in the wind with no coverage, and no financial relief.
A lot of these plans have deductibles, exclusions, waiting periods, pre-existing clauses and just about everything that a person could think of before coverage kicks in. Now if you are getting coverage through your employer I guess you cannot complain too much. But if you are coming out of pocket do the benefits outweigh the premium costs.
Besides the most expensive part of dentistry are cosmetic, orthodontics, bridges, braces, etc. So a lot of these plans you can max out with only one member of the family if there is a lot of work to be done. So a lot of people consequently do not carry any kind of dental insurance at all. This is sad to say the least. So how can most individuals or families cut down on the expense of costly dental procedures?
Preferred Provider Organizations are networks of professionals who provide discounted pricing due to the volume of patients that can be accumulate through marketing arms promoting direct to the public. These marketing organizations are able to negotiate nice discounts and provide top quality coverage sometimes better than the insurance companies can, and without all the restrictions like waiting periods, deductibles, caps, and pre-existing conditions.
Keep in mind these marketing organizations are not insurance companies. They just provide their clients big savings from their network of professionals. ASP is one of America's fastest growing dental plans with over 35,000 participating dentists nationwide.Thousands of americans have taken advantage of ASP'S programs to reduce out of pocket expenses and deductibles while maintaining high quality care through private dental practices that are established and respected in their communities. Are You Happy With Your Smile

by Frank Menkal
How important is our dental care anyways? Well for starters if you smoke or chew tobacco, you have a greater risk for gum disease and oral cancer. Men are affected twice as often as women, and 90 percent of oral cancers occur in those over 45 years of age. Studies have also shown that diabetics are more susceptible to the development of oral infections and periodontal disease than those who do not have diabetes. To prevent problems with bacterial infections in the mouth, your dentist may prescribe antibiotics, medicated mouth rinses, and more frequent cleanings.
What are my options when it comes to dental plans? Well let me tell you, typically when it comes to dental coverage, most would take care of their dental needs through there job or even from an insurance provider, for a small monthly fee of course. But these days, that is far to impractical, with the development of great discount plans now widely available, one could save "Hugely" with this type of plan!
Here are some examples of your typical dental insurance plan vs. your dental discount plan and the kind of money a family could be saving. First of all, when it comes to your dental insurance offered through your employer, the monthly fees are much smaller when your not buying the converge on your own. . This is due to the fact that your employer pays most of the monthly cost passing the savings on to you! What you don't realize is that in the end, the typical family pays more on a yearly basis.
Let me tell you that most families only go to the dentist when they need to. If your only going to the dentist when your teeth are in trouble, instead of getting your regular check up's and teeth cleanings twice a year, those monthly fee's add up to quite a bit when your looking at it on a yearly basis. When members of your family do make it to the dentist, they come to find out that not all procedure are covered and the paper work may get out of hand! In the end the insurance company wins making your family the losers (I'm just telling it how it is folks):
Now when it comes to picking a great discount plan, there are many options out there. Among these plans, I found that after doing some digging, that Ameriplan offers a plan that one would need in order to save more on a yearly basis On top of their discount dental program, you would automatically receive discount vision, discount prescription and discount chiropractic. To give you an idea on how your family would save more money with this type of dental program, all you need to understand are the basics about how it works.
First of all, anyone can sign up for this dental program and the monthly costs are fifteen dollars for and individual and twenty dollars for an entire house hold. Secondly, when you do decided to make an appointment for that mean tooth of yours, you get the discounted rate at the time of the appointment. Meaning, no wasted high monthly insurance cost when your family is not using the plan. I also found that when you do pay for all your treatments, most if not all are discounted up to eighty percent, "Wow"! If you ask me, this plan is worth looking into.
Other Facts that you might have not heard until now! 50% consider the smile the first facial feature they notice, and 80% are not happy with their smile! Maybe if you had the right motivation with the right dental program, your family would not just be another average statistic. Smokers remain three times more likely than non-smokers to lose all their teeth. This figure has not changed from a decade ago. "Yikes" if you smoke, one should consider the future and how not taking care of your teeth could really affect you later in life!
If you are a person that is concerned about not being a part of that 80% of people that are not happy with their smiles, I would highly recommend getting enrolled in a discount dental plan like Ameriplan. For only a small fee a month you can be on your way to a healthier smile without having to pay and arm and a leg for it! Dental care can get expensive but thanks to companies like this we now have an outlet to save money on our smiles!
